We are over halfway into January so can you believe we are less than a month away from Valentine’s Day! It’s the season of love and caring for others whether that be a significant other, friends or family! But I’m over here still trying to work on #newyearnewme and get back into the routine for this new semester. Valentine’s Day always sneaks up on me because it happens so quickly after the new year, football playoffs (Geaux Tigers!), MLK day and then BAM, it comes and goes! So I wanted to share some simple ideas on being intentional this season and to not let this time pass you by!
Ideas for Special Ones in Your Life:
It is a great idea to think about your significant other’s, friends’ or family members’ love language to truly make them feel special! For example, if you have someone who loves to hang out with you then spend some quality time with them. Go grab a cup of coffee and catch up or think about their favorite hobby and plan a fun day with them, like roller skating, seeing a new movie or going to their favorite restaurant. Now if you have someone that enjoys words of encouragement or affirmation, give ’em a call and tell them how much you value them or a happy text with your favorite quote, bible verse or your own words! Or if you’ve got a partner or gal pal who feels special when they get gifts then show them a little love by picking something up to show them you thought of them! Receiving gifts is my love language and sometimes I feel like that one gets a bad rep because it might seems materialistic but for me everything holds a memory… and I mean everything! So when I receive a set of coasters from someone from then on out when I set my drink down on the coaster I think of the person that gave it to me and that moment of exchange and it always bring a smile to my face because of the memory! All that to say, think about the person you want to make feel special and get them something that might remind you of them or something creative! Because I feel in this season it is truly the thought that counts!!
Treat Yo Self 2020:
Cue the Tom Haverford and Donna Meagle ‘Treat Yo Self Day!’ Where are all my Parks and Rec fans at?! Yaasss girl, ‘Treat Yo Self 2011″ that is one of my favorite episode from that show. But really, it is so great to fill the cups up of those around you but you can’t pour from an empty one! Meaning you have to also show yourself some love, so take a minute and think, what is your love language! If you enjoy quality time maybe grab your favorite book and spend some quite time re-reading it. Words of affirmation can be great too, maybe write some encouraging words on a couple of post notes and stick them on your mirror and read those words every morning when you are getting ready. You is kind, you is smart, you is important 🙂 And of course if you want to treat yo self to a little gift, get a top to rock this season or a cute tumbler to make sure you get all of your water in for the day!
Here are couple of ideas that I thought would be great gifts for your BFF, mom, sister or even yourself! And these are all clickable links to shop these products! My personal favorite is the headband set because they go with so many outfits and they have a cute little knot on the top!
