Inspiring creativity + confidence in your wardrobe
Affordable fashion… my two favorite words. The foundation of having a versatile closet is filling it with staple pieces for the season. A few weeks ago I shared my Fall 2020 Closet Staples where I listed 5 staple items for each clothing category: tops, outerwear, bottoms, shoes and accessories. Today I am showing you how to take those pieces and recreate multiple outfits and looks for all your fall events and occasions.
For events or outings that are relaxed but still call for a dressier look.
My go-to look is leggings and an oversized sweater so for gatherings that have more structure I opt in for the dressy casual look. These looks can be great when you aren’t quite sure what the dress code might be for non-formal events. Dark wash, skinny jeans can give a look a polished feel and allows you to dress up either your top or accessories. If you are wanting to wear leggings but need a dressier look, faux leather leggings are the way to go. By adding heeled booties and a stylish cardigan you get an appropriate, dressy look while still remaining comfortable.
Attire mostly for work, consisting of conservative and modest styles.
Finding fall work wear can be tricking sometimes on a budget. I like to stick with either dress pants or a simple, pencil skirt and dress them up with a cardigan, blazer or sweater. Most of my business casual fall looks are solid pieces paired together consisting of two to three different colors. Flats or heeled boots keep these looks professional and also give you a chance to show some personality, either with a pattern or texture of the shoe.
Looks for everyday wear and informal events that are still appropriate and put together.
These looks are where you can let your hair down and have fun with mixing and matching. Oversized sweaters and tunics are a top trend this fall and work well with leggings outfits. Joggers have also become popular and are a great alternative to sweatpants but still give you the comfort and relaxed fit. Tall boots and sneaker booties can give your outfit a put together feel while still being relaxed. Fall temperatures gives you the opportunity to accessorize with jackets like the utility and denim jackets here as well as scarves, from cable knit to fashion scarves. If I had to choose, comfy casual outfits are my favorite, especially during the late fall, early winter season.
