Inspiring creativity + confidence in your wardrobe
New school, who this?! This weekend kicks off football season, so starts the best time of year – Saturdays in the South. There is nothing like a full day dedicated to food, friends and football. Oh and tailgating is its own tradition by itself! I remember when I was at LSU they had signs posted on the grassy areas saying that you could not set up your tailgate space until 5:00pm on Friday before the game. Then sure enough on the first Friday before gameday I quickly realized how serious it was when I saw people with their tents and gear ready right at 5pm to claim their spot. When I worked at Alabama I saw yet another tradition that just blew the ole tailgating game out of the water! On the Thursday night before a home game you would see these large tents pop up and then ALL DAY on Friday there was a company that set up individual tailgating party stations for different groups. They had chairs, tables, TVs set up in the tents, generators, places for food spreads – it was a lot, but truly the best way to tailgate.
This year I will be tuning in from Starkville since my new work home is at Mississippi State University. I am interested to see the different traditions and sights here because every school has its own unique spin on gameday. At the beginning of the school year I was able to get an inside view of the stadium and field. It was such a fun experience to have during our fall training and the best way to kick off the semester.
One of my favorite aspects of gameday is dressing the part because you can show your team spirit by having fun mixing and matching school colors. There can be a lot of walking, hours spent at a tailgate or in the stadium so it can be hot, especially for those September games. When it comes to fashion there is a delicate balance between cute and comfy so here are a few of my go-to pieces and style inspiration for your gameday!
