Inspiring creativity + confidence in your wardrobe
The power blazer effect is real my friends! For about 5 years I owned one fitted blazer that I only pulled out for job interviews. I never really thought of it as a closet staple or something for daily wear. Then I was introduced to the longer “boyfriend fit” blazer, and oh did things change. I wore it while presenting one day at work and got so many compliments I knew I had to find different ways to style it because the longer/looser fit is cute and comfy. If you are just starting out on the blazer trend I would suggest getting a simple, black one because the styling possibilities are endless!
Since purchasing my first blazer in this fit, I now have 5 different colors/patterns. Most of the looks I am sharing can be styled with different color/patterned blazers because I like to keep the pieces I pair with it more neutral. When you keep the other pieces of your outfit simple, it allows your statement piece – the blazer – to stand out.
You can’t go wrong with a white tee and dark jeans. This look can be great for the office, or dressy casual Friday if you can’t wear jeans during the week. It’s also a great go-to for dinner with colleagues at a conference. While the white tee and dark jeans make this a versatile causal look the heels elevate it to match the blazer’s ‘business’ energy. A fun way to show your personality with this look is by adding a unique color or patterned pair of heels or bold earrings.

An all black look with leggings and sneakers – I’m there! If you are trying to dress up your casual look but still get away with wearing leggings, this is a great outfit option. With the all black, it makes this casual look simple but put together so there is still some professional vibes here. You could easily dress this look up by trading in the sneakers for heels or ballet flats.

Midi skirts have been a top trend on the fashion front for the past year or two and I’m loving it. If you are looking for a modest skirt/dress look, then a midi skirt is the way to go. They are so versatile and go great with a blazer. Since this skirt has a busy pattern on it I kept the top and shoes simple and neutral. Pointed-toe flats also help to elevate this dressy look as opposed to sandals or sneakers.

If you are wanting the comfort of blue jeans but still want a ‘dressier’ look black jeans are a happy medium. Pairing a black blazer with black jeans gives you the opportunity to feature a pop of color or pattern with a tee or blouse. Seeing two cheetah print looks back to back, makes me realize I must have a thing for animal print! To keep this look dressy you can add mules (like I did here), flats or loafers.

I needed to brighten things up a bit so I had to grab some bold colored dress pants. These pixie pants from Old Navy are some of my favorite pants for work because they have a great comfy fit in tons of different colors and patterns. I paired them with a black and white striped top and neutral loafers. I went with loafers because loafers and mules tend to look best paired with pants that cut off at the ankle or higher.

Now for a more business/professional option I went with a button up and a knee-length skirt. While the tights and suede booties are more fitting for a late fall/winter look, a way to transition this look for warmer weather is scrap the tights and add heels. You could also personalize this outfit by changing the button up shirt with a bold color/patterned blouse which would still keep it professional.

The black blazer in all of these looks is a must have with the long fit and scrunch sleeves. Fall is one of the best times to start styling with a blazer, because as the days get cooler it’s a great dressy substitute for a jacket or cardigan. Below is my favorite black blazer from Walmart in addition to other top rated blazers on Amazon.
