Inspiring creativity + confidence in your wardrobe
Summer is officially here so onto sharing looks and outfits that work for warmer weather. Summer outfits are sometimes harder for me to pair on the day to day because I love dressing in layers. This season I am going to get creative and find cute outfits to share on the blog. The first closet staple for this summer are simple, black cotton shorts. These cotton shorts are my go-to anytime it is hot outside because they are incredibly comfortable and versatile.
I have had these shorts for 10 years, honestly, and they are my MOST favorite piece for the season. One of the reasons they have remained in style for so long is how easy they are to dress up or down. The fit of these particular ones are extremely comfy and I absolutely love the length, short enough but modest at the same time. They are currently on sale for $12 and are worth every penny.
The first look with these shorts is with a patterned top for a dressy and a casual look. Since the top adds personality all of the other pieces I added are a solid color because cheetah print and black always make a good combination but also keep these looks from being too busy. These block heels and headband dress it up for a night out and the sandals make for a comfy, causal look.

Here I am sharing two different outfits with this relaxed fit tank top. The black on black pairing allow for many accessories and shoe options. I usually add a pop of color, like these statement earrings and Vans. I also enjoy adding layers to this look like the utility vest and wedges.

The tried and true chambray shirt. For this look I went with a lighter wash top with these shorts to have a contrast of the dark and light. This pairing makes the outfits more put together and go great with the addition of brown accessories. My mom always says that black and brown don’t match but I have a feeling those rules don’t apply anymore or at least I hope they don’t because I mix those colors in my outfits all of the time these days.

I love adding light weight sweaters to shorts especially when I know I will be inside for most of the day. I get cold so easily so a light weight sweater is perfect because it is also breathable for summer. I kept this look simple by adding espadrille sandals and quilted flats. Both are comfy, casual and a great look for things like a game night with friends or out shopping with the family.

The final look is with a graphic tee for two different style of outfits. In the first look I kept it basic with sunnies and these ankle strap sandals which are great because they can be casual with a little height to them. The second look is more of a dressy casual look with the added blazer and studded mules. I like the contrast of the two showing how easy and versatile these shorts can be with great pieces.
