Inspiring creativity + confidence in your wardrobe
Thanksgiving might look a little different this year but that doesn’t mean I’m going to let it stop me from putting on a cute outfit. This time of year is perfect in the South because it is cooler around Thanksgiving so I can finally wear warm, fall clothing – like boots and thick sweaters.
The best colors for a Thanksgiving outfit are light oranges, olive greens and light browns – like a camel color or tan. I like to keep my looks cute and simple and a great way to do that is to accessorize with solid black pieces. This helps create looks that aren’t too busy as well as giving them a polished feel. Here are four outfit ideas that you can easily re-create with your wardrobe.
If you are looking for the simplest outfit to re-create, here you go! A lightweight sweater paired with skinny jeans keeps the look comfy and is great when celebrating indoors or outdoors. You can add a pop of color with your sweater choice and dress the outfit up with mules.
This is a look I would go for if Thanksgiving happens to be chillier this year. A thick, turtleneck sweater is a classic piece for a stylish fall look. The faux leather leggings and heeled booties give the outfit a dressier, casual feel. Fedoras have been a big fashion trend this summer and fall so I just love the look of one with a turtleneck.
What’s a list of fall looks without a cardigan outfit?! When wearing a cardigan I usually like for it to be the statement piece of my outfit – so this is where I will add my color or texture. If your cardigan is oversized, a great way to keep your outfit flattering is adding a fitted tee and skinny jeans. Simple, patterned flats or sneakers are a great option to keep the look comfy and stylish.
The classic fall look. You can’t go wrong by adding a sweater to your favorite pair of skinny jeans and riding boots. One way I like to change up this classic look is adding a long sleeve tee underneath the sweater. Here I added a black and white striped tee, since I went with the black boots, but another great choice is adding a top underneath with a collar, a chambray top is the best option.
Hopefully these casual and comfy looks will save you time figuring out what to wear this Thanksgiving so you can spend more time whipping up your favorite side dish. Now the question is which one of these do I choose?!
Warmly, Emily
