Can you believe we are in our third week of quarantine?! In some ways I didn’t think it would lasts this long and in other ways it’s like I can’t remember what I was doing before this. I will say it has definitely opened my eyes to all of the things I took for granted, like going to a restaurant with friends, walking the aisles in Old Navy and actually being able to try clothes on and my personal favorite, not getting the side eye when you get something stuck in your throat and have to cough in public, yikes!
I am a homebody so I don’t mind spending time in because I’ve been able to get so many things done. Well I’ll be honest the first week I laid around, watched Netflix and snacked WAY too much but by week two that got old so I started back at my routine. There are some things that I noticed I do a certain way and thought it can’t be just me that does it this way. I attributed most of these things to my Type A personality and had to share to see… has anyone else been doing these things too?!
5 Things You Are Probably Doing During Quarantine
1. Lists, Lists and More Lists
I normally have a to-do list for things to do at home on the weekends but since I’ve been stuck at home my to-do lists, grocery list, idea list… all the list are on steroids. Most importantly are my to-do lists, I mean it is great to get things done but to be able to mark it off, now that’s what I call an accomplishment.
I have had two different to-do lists: ‘things to do during the week’ and ‘things to do during the day’. The weekly list I usually create at the beginning of the week which consists of bigger projects. My daily ones I create at the beginning of each day and have things that will not require as much time or have a closer approaching deadline. This method makes it more manageable and also helps me to not forget things.
2. Cleaned Everything, Twice
I don’t think I have cleaned my house this much ever. Since I am sitting at home more than normal I feel like the dust and dirt are just starring at me. I have even started to clean my cleaning products because sometimes I forget those need a little sprucing up too.
Also since I am eating more meals at home I am using more dishes and for me I have to wash my dishes right after I use them. When I am finished cooking and eating I can’t keep working or watching TV until my sink it totally clear. One advantage of that is at the end of the evening most everything is cleaned and put away so I can go right to bed, I’d call that a win.
3. Binge Watching
Who isn’t binge watching all of the shows and documentaries right now. For me though I have a particular way or I guess more so of an order of watching things. When I see something I like I add it to ‘My List’ on Netflix or ‘Watchlist’ on Prime Video then I will watch from my list. If I happen to pick something that newly came out that I didn’t add to my list I feel like I’m cheating on my list, anyone else do that?!
Here are some of things I have watched recently. My favorite is ‘Love Is Blind’ on Netflix which is a reality show where people get engaged without ever seeing each other. I know it sounds bizarre and so fake but I truly feel like it is real, I mean some of it is dramatic, for sure, but at its core I think some of the couples on there fell in love and are happy. On a different note, if you are wanting to be amazed, confused and speechless all at the same time then ‘Tiger King’ on Netflix is a must see. It is like a train wreck the entire time, you feel like you should look away but you just can’t.
4. I Might Have Talked to Myself, a Couple Times
After I’ve watched ‘Love Is Blind’ or ‘The Circle’ which is another great Netflix reality show I start breaking down what I would do if I were on the show. Once I come up with the perfect plan to win the game on ‘The Circle’ or find my true love on ‘Love Is Blind’ I think to myself, I should totally go on one of those shows. Then in the middle of rehearsing for my audition tape while washing my hair in the shower it hits me. Wait a minute, how do these people get that much time off from work, what did their boss have to say about it all and just like that my thoughts go down a rabbit hole. But really though, if you know how that all works, let me know. 😉
I always have to break down shows or movies that I watch or books that I read to dig a little deeper. I might have verbally talked out the details to myself during this time of quarantine but hey, we’re all stuck at home so it’s fine to talk to yourself, right.
5. Run Out of Things to Organize
I’ve decluttered and reorganized my closets, kitchen drawers, emails and even cleared up some phone storage. Last week I did a sweep through my entire house to get rid of some things and created a pretty large pile. I will probably make another sweep through the house again because sometimes I feel like I hang on to stuff the first go round and don’t want to give it up but then looking at it again once I’ve already parted with some things I realized, girl you don’t need that.
It feels so good to have everything in its place but now I’ve run out of things to organize. Next up is probably alphabetizing my DVD’s and book shelf even though the only person that will see them is me. After this much time in the house I won’t need to organize anything for the rest of the year!
